Crime Stoppers Reports Continued Growth!
With Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s announcement that January is Crime Stopper’s Month, Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and Northern Minnesota is happy to report that 2009 was a very busy year!
As Crime Stoppers looks back at 2009, we saw increases in almost every statistic we measure. Ultimately, this is a direct result of the individuals in the communities we serve wanting to make a difference. Crime Stoppers is a partnership between the public, the media and the police that provides a safe and secure means for individuals to report crime and earn cash rewards in the process. When we compare 2009 to the year previous, Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and Northern Minnesota has made some significant gains:
The percentages above reflect some significant increases in 2009 including more than $100,000 worth of drugs seized and your tips meant police were making a new arrest every week in 2009. Naturally, our goal is to continue to help the police make more arrests, pull more criminals off the streets and make our communities and schools even safer. 2009 also saw Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and Northern Minnesota win four awards in a global competition with Crime Stopper Programs from around the planet. For details on the awards and the Crime Stoppers International conference, please click HERE.
Looking ahead, we don’t see Crime Stoppers slowing down and we hope to count on your support as we continue to grow and improve. With better numbers and more arrests…comes higher costs and we’re hopeful you can help us out. Crime Stoppers truly appreciates any donation and we’ll happily send along a receipt for income tax purposes. A donation to Crime Stoppers is made securely through the link on the right…or by clicking HERE.
A special thank you to the many people who tirelessly volunteer their time and resources and Crime Stoppers owes a specific debt to our media partners and corporate sponsors who help keep our program effective and healthy.
