2010 Indicates a Busy Year For Crime Stoppers

Crime Stoppers Jan 2010Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and Northern Minnesota is pleased to report that 2010 is off to a very busy start.  When we compare January 2009 with January 2010, your tips resulted in a 100% increase in the number of drug related issues being solved, a 200% increase in the number of people charged with crimes and the Crime Stoppers program paid out rewards that were 500% greater than the year previous.

The increases come on heels of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s announcement that January 2010 was “Crime Stoppers Month” (see: January is Crime Stopper’s Month).  Nationally, this meant an increase in exposure for every program.  Locally, media outlets and police partners continued to promote a message of safe communities, being aware of your neighbourhoods and reporting any situations that look suspicious.

Looking ahead, Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and Northern Minnesota has some aggressive plans4504118_good_job and it includes novel ways to promote our message and provide ways for individuals to keep their families and communities safe.  Crime Stoppers is counting on your continued support as we grow and improve. With better numbers and more arrests…comes higher costs and we’re hopeful you can help us out. Crime Stoppers truly appreciates any donation and we’ll happily send along a receipt for income tax purposes.  A donation to Crime Stoppers is made securely through the link on the right…or by clicking HERE.

A special thank you to the dedicated individuals in law enforcement, the many people who tirelessly volunteer their time and resources and Crime Stoppers owes a specific debt to our media partners and corporate sponsors who help keep our program effective and healthy.  Links to all can be found on our site.
