A crime is committed.- A person sees it happening or hears about it and wishes to “do the right thing.”
- They call 1-800-222-TIPS (no caller ID) or go to www.tipshelp.com (not email)
A civilian call taker accepts the call, tells the tipster “not” to provide any information that could possibly identify them to anyone.
The information is recorded on “Tipsoft” only – not a police system. The tipster is given a “secret code number” and told to call back for updates or to find out if their information was useful in solving a crime & if they are eligible for a cash reward (up to $2000) reward if someone is charged.
The reward payout is done in a secret but public location – totally safe! No one knows who provided the information or received the cash reward.
