Property Crimes

  • Theft - Dryden / Vermillion Bay / Ignace prior to April 23rd 2005
    Someone stole a 4hp Yamaha outboard motor from a boat at Bear Narrows on Century road. Back in March 2005 a quantity of treated lumber was also stolen from this location.

  • Vandalism - Jaffray Mellick, Kenora - October 2005
    Someone intentionally left pieces of cardboard with nails protruding through it in an attempt to damage passing vehicles on the roadway in the area of 659 Highway and the Hidden Trail road in the Jaffray Mellick, Kenora area.

  • Theft - Northwoods Hotel, Ignace - April / October 2005
    Someone went to the area at the rear of the Northwoods Hotel in Ignace and stole a 440 cubic inch engine, transmission, and radiator from a 1966 Dodge Polara. The stolen items was estimated at $2000.

  • Theft - Hannam Park, Rainy River - October 19th / October 20th 2005
    Someone stole fifteen gallons or one-thousand two-hundred minnows from pens in the area of Hannam Park in Rainy River. The stolen items are valued at $1500.

  • Vandalism / Theft - 14th September 2005
    Someone intentionally scratched nine vehicles in the vicinity of the Knox United and Baptist Churches on Second Street South. Other vehicles suffered similar damage including fourteen 2005 trucks parked at Dingwall Ford.

    More recently this past July someone went to Lake of the Woods Mobile Marine on Airport Road in Kenora and stole a 2002 beige & white Bayliner boat with 165hp Mercury outboard motor.

  • Theft - Sioux Lookout / Hudson - 22nd-28th May 2005
    Sometime between the 22nd and 28th of May 2005 went to the Deception Bay area of Highway 516 and stole a 2003 Mercury 25hp outboard motor from a boat that was left there. The value of this stolen motor is $1,500.

  • Vandalism - Red Lake / Balmertown / Ear Falls
    In 2005 someone went to the Red Lake Gold and Country Club and caused extensive damage to a number of golf carts parked on the property.

  • Vandalism - Mackenzie Portage, Kenora - September 18th 2005
    Someone went to a securely structured and locked gate on a private road off Mackenzie Portage where they hooked on to the gate with a vehicle causing significant damage in an attempt to pull down the gate.

  • Theft - Dryden / Vermillion Bay - November 2nd - 5th 2005
    Someone went to the Kimberley Eagle West Resort west of Vermillion Bay and stole $23,000 worth of items including eight 15hp Evinrude motors, and one 15hp Mercury outboard motors, as well as a DeWalt 12" compound mitre saw.

    In November 2005 Dairy Queen, TLC Automotive, the Beer Store, and Calypso Hair Fashions were broken into with small amounts of cash stolen in each instance.

  • Theft - Koochiching County / International Falls - November 21st 2005
    Someone went to the bookstore at Rainy River Community College and stole an under-the-counter safe containing in excess of US$530 and a small amount of Canadian currency.

    The safe is a Century 200 series with a serial number of 'L14389' and weighs approximately 360lbs.

  • Theft - Koochiching County / International Falls - January 10-11 2006
    Someone went to a residence in Ben Casey road in Littlefork and stole a black coloured 2003 Skidoo 600. The snowmobile was bearing Minnesota license 'HH1064' and is valued at US$4,000.

  • Theft -Koochiching County / International Falls - January 11 2006
    Someone went to a residence on 3rd Avenue East in International Falls during the evening/night and stole a 1993 Polaris XLT snowmobile bearing Minnesota license 'BF9961'. The snowmobile was later located by police, stripped of its motor, track and other components.

  • Theft - Ignace - April 18th / 19th 2006
    Someone illegally entered Harley's Supermarket and stole approximately $10,000 of various brands of cigarettes as well as $1,100 in cash.

  • Theft - Dryden April 24th 2006
    Someone entered D&B Sports& Marine and stole a number of Evinrude, Johnson, and Minnkota boat and trolling motors, as well as Kipor generators, with the combined value approximately $70,000.

  • Theft - Devlynne's Store, Fort Frances - August 6th 2006
    Someone stole approximately $15,000 of Canadian and American currency from a safe in an office.

  • Theft - Furlane's Grocery, Sioux Lookout - Sep 7th 2006
    Someone stole approximately 25 cartons of various brands of cigarettes from a shipment that was delivered at 46 King Street at approximately 11am.

  • Break & Enter - Lakeview Drive, Kenora - April 1st 2007
    Thieves broke into Shooniyaa Wa-Biitong on Lakeview Drive in Kenora and stole four Dell laptop computers.

  • Break & Enter - Beach Road, Keewatin - March 29th 2007
    Thieves broke into a residence on Beach Road and stole approximately $40,000 worth of equipment including a big screen television, an engagement ring and a number of snowboards and wakeboards.

  • Break & Enter - Ignace - November 2006 - May 2007
    Between November 2006 and May 2007 someone has committed break, enter, and thefts on several seasonal homes and outfitter type businesses.  Usually outbuildings such as garages have been the targets where gasoline, tools and on one occasion a fishing depth finder, has been stolen.
  • Theft - Sioux Lookout - April 2007
    In Sioux Lookout on April 15, 2007, someone stole a Dell Inspirion 600 Laptop computer from the Calvary Baptist Church, and in the Sioux Lookout area as well, someone stole a 25 hp Mercury outboard motor from a location at the end of Smock Road on the English River, sometime between the end of April and May 19 of this year.

  • Break & Enter - Vermillion Bay / Ear Falls - April 2007
    In both Vermillion Bay and Ear Falls, the LCBO’s were targets of Break, Enter and Thefts during the early morning hours of Monday, April 2 of this year.  While in Vermilion Bay entry was not gained, someone had attempted to do so by breaking a glass on the door however, the thieves were successful in the Ear Falls LCBO as entry was gained through window broken out, and a quantity of various liquors and beers were stolen.
  • Theft - Fort Frances, Riverview Drive / Dryden, Elizabeth Avenue / Kenora, Valley Drive - May 9th, June 4th, June 12th

    Fort Frances:  Sometime prior to Wednesday, May 9th of this year, someone went to a Riverview Drive residence where they stole over $2600.00 in cash and cheques of the Canadian Cancer Society.

    Dryden:  On Monday, June 4th sometime during the daylight hours someone illegally entered an Elizabeth Ave residence where they stole a jewellery box containing men’s and ladies gold wedding rings, gold chains, and other diamond and various rings.

    Kenora:  Sometime prior to June 12th someone went to the KMTS cellular site on Valley Drive where they stole approximately 200 feet of copper wire, and four pieces of 30 foot lengths of pipe.

  • Break & Enter - Vermillion Bay - May 2007
    A
    lso in Vermilion Bay sometime overnight of Friday, May 26, someone went to the Casually Hip Clothing Store where they gained access through the front door and stole a large quantity of clothing items valued at approximately $2500.00 .

  • Serious Firearm Theft - Fort Severn First Nation - August 2007

    Sometime between 12 midnight and 3:00 am of Tuesday, August 28 of this year, someone illegally entered the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Detachment situated on the Fort Severn First Nation in the far remote north of our region.

    Once entry was made, those responsible stole 1 secure handgun storage box containing a Sig Sauer 40 calibre semi-automatic pistol, a set of police issue handcuffs, as well as pepper spray and a police collapsible baton.

    In addition, a Winchester 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge shotgun, and 8 X 303 calibre Lee Enfield rifles were also stolen.

    Obviously, this very serious crime could lead to very serious outcomes if these weapons fall into the wrong hands, and Crime Stoppers is ready to pay cash to see that this case is solved and the weapons recovered.

  • Vandalism - August 29th 2007

    Someone vandalised a 1969 Buick Electra parked in the 500 Block of First Street in Fort Frances by keying all sides, damaging the convertible roof as well as stealing two speakers and a Pioneer amplifier.

    The extent of this damage is approximately $7000.

  • Vandalism / Animal Cruelty- August 29th 2007

    Back in August of this year, someone went to the B’Nai Brith Children’s Camp on Lake of the Woods where they severely damaged an inflatable play structure valued at approximately $8000.00 US.

    In Fort France during the evening of August 17 of this year someone went to a residence at Fire Road #205 on Highway 611 someone chopped down approximately 33 mature trees valued at approximately $20,000.00

    In Dryden on September 4, someone armed with a pellet or similar gun killed a young cat and family pet on Gamble Dr.

    At the Kenora Cemetery between September 21 and 28, someone has pushed over, damaged or destroyed approximately 85 headstones.

  • Vandalism - North State Avenue, Warroad - February 23 - February 24, 2008

    Sometime between 10:00 pm on Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24th at 7:00 am, someone went to 901 North State Avenue in Warroad where they caused between $4000 and $5000 in damage to a parked black colored 2003Cadillac CTS 4 door.

    Damage consisted of having the tail lights broken out; the covers on the headlights smashed, the driver’s side mirror broken, as well as paint damage to the passenger side fender.

  • Damage to a parked black 2003 Cadillac CTS 4 door -between Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24th 2008

    In Warroad, sometime between Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24th of this year, someone went to 901 North State Avenue where they caused between $4000 and $5000 in damage to a parked black colored 2003Cadillac CTS 4 door.

    In the early morning hours of November 1, 2007, someone went to 620-4th Avenue in International Falls and forcibly entered an unoccupied apartment complex and did approximately $20,000.00 in damages.

    And back on July 19, 2007 during the Roseau County Fair, someone went to the fairgrounds where they cut the padlocks and broke into numerous food stands and the Fair Secretaries office where the stole approximately $1500.00 in cash.
