Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and Northern Minnesota continues to trend upward through 2010.

The first four months have been extremely busy for Crime Stoppers and the police agencies in our area. Growth through January, February and March continued in April. Comparing performance year over year, the program has seen growth in key performance indicators: the number of calls received, the number of arrests made and the amount of drugs and property recovered.

The amount of drugs taken off the streets shows almost a 200% increase over the same time period one year ago. With only one-third of the year behind us, the numbers for recovered property are at approximately the same level reached in October last year.

We believe the increase is directly related to the quality of the tips being received and the speed at which police is able to act on the information provided by the public. Specific information about the first three months can be found in the following articles:

Crime Stoppers Reports Continued Growth

Key in this success is our ability to promote a message and our media partners continue to be most kind. Equally, our relationship with sponsors is vital in the delivery of the Crime Stoppers program. Please take a few minutes to browse through the long list of organizations assisting us in keeping our communities a little safer. You can also lend a hand with a donation and by joining us on Facebook.

Crime Stoppers is a citizen, media and police co-operative program designed to involve the public in the fight against crime. Crime Stoppers will provide citizens with a vehicle to anonymously supply the police with information to a crime they may have knowingly witnessed or a crime or potential crime to which they may have knowledge.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
