The increases come on heels of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s announcement that January 2010 was “Crime Stoppers Month” (see: January is Crime Stopper’s Month).  Nationally, this meant an increase in exposure for every program.  Locally, media outlets and police partners continued to promote a message of safe communities, being aware of your neighbourhoods and reporting any situations that look suspicious. 

Looking ahead, Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and Northern Minnesota has some aggressive plans and it includes novel ways to promote our message and provide ways for individuals to keep their families and communities safe.  Crime Stoppers is counting on your continued support as we grow and improve. With better numbers and more arrests…comes higher costs and we’re hopeful you can help us out. The letter follows releases from Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty commending the organization during National Crime Stoppers Month.  Specifically, the Commissioner points to the theme, “Helping to Stop, Solve and Prevent Crime Together”, the partnership between Crime Stopper programs, the public, the media and the various police organizations involved.

“In Canada, there are Crime Stopper programs in every province and territory, more than 100 programs providing Crime Stoppers coverage to over 4,000 Canadian communities.”
